St Peytersburg

Welcome to St Peytersburg my potentially multi-genred town hidden deep within middle America which will be beset by the sorcerous undead for many centuries yet to come.

This is a longer term project inspired by my interest in Zombie apocalypse gaming and my need to question why said genre is predominantly set in the near future. Why not the past which would allow a great deal more myth, voodoo and gothic horror legend to be drawn upon in the vein of Sleepy Hollow.
As such the first incarnation of St Peytersburg is set during the American War of Independance within the fledgling community of Peytersburg Landing;

The Peyterson family arrived in the American colonies as Dutch emigrees before the War of Independance started. Orginally cereal farmers, keping livestock primarily for home consumption, fortune smiled on the second generation as thier land neighboured a soon established wilderness route of trade and travel.

A newly established trading post has quickly seen profit from pelt and dry goods, allowing the construction of a stables, with the farm continuing to prosper.

My intention is to follow and chart the genesis and history of St Peytersburg, and it's occult leanings, from the AWI and ACW through any number of gaming periods including the Wild West, 1920s Gangsters and Cthulu investigators, 1960s Spys and G-Men, 1980s Bikers and State Troopers all the through to modern day and slightly beyond.

Peytersburg Landing forms the basis of what will always be a backwater of America, whatever year it may exist in with figures, rules and decade specific scenery pieces to suit.

The Stagecoach becomes the Ford Model T becomes the Pickup, the Lincoln Continental, the SUV, the Hummer and the near future APC.

For the world of  Peytersburg Landing rules areprovided by Ganesha Games' Fear and Faith, for the Gothic Horror, supplemented by the Black Powder detail of Songs of Drums and Shakos.

As the community grows and events (games) unfold i'll add a roll of relevant posts to chart its progress but for now you'll just have bear with me and the front page for a little while longer. Gratitude to you all.
