How to make friends and influence

Hello people,
Most of us got back to a bit of Edge of the Empire this Wednesday. It was kind of one of THOSE sessions. We were one down and started an hour later than normal, not that that's a huge issue.

Following on from last time out it was decision time as I asked the lads what they were looking to trade with Van Weston, local Bothan Intel-Broker, and for what. The answer was that pretty much everything was on the table in return for;
- a release from their indenture with HI-HI
- making things right with Gonk while keeping the Mynock
- a hyperdrive for the Mynock

This was however after they had travelled to the provided co-ordinates, which had re-filled the group's well developed sense of PARANOIA. Tanner cranked up the Triumph machine and quickly established that said co-ordinates were at the edge of the Persephone's attendant asteroid field well away form any major spacelanes.....hmmm!!

Flying casual the chaps came across a well loved GR-75 Transport at the appointed co-ordinates
sporting a number of modifications to the hull and a significantly reduced sensor profile.

Opening comms instructions were received toward a docking ring attached to a big lump at the fore of the GR-75 seemingly buried within the cargo containers. Agenai did the required and the Myncoc was soon latched into place....on the prow of the GR-75 which itself was outside their fire-arcs. No issues there then ;]

Having cautiously made their way through the airlocks, Sindori sent 7s through first as "Recon", they found themselves in a darkly deck-plated room with battle droids ensconced in each corner. In the centre was a dais which soon burst into life casting up a holo-image of Van Weston who greeted his guest with a curt "What do you have to offer?"

The following negotiations went pretty well by previous standards. Jared joined Van Weston's organisation along with a number of data slates and a couple of cryo-crates of bio-organic samples. In return Van Weston agreed to negotiate their release from their obligations to HI-HI as well as the release of the Mynock from Gonk. Van Weston also agreed to act as agent for their soon to be "Freelance" status.....say hello to the new boss?

Sweetening the deal Van Weston opened the GR-75's armoury to the chaps to the tune of 7'500 Credits. Brought up into the crew decks the boys got down to some shopping and dropping the 75 proving to well equipped as a mobile base of operations for any group of "Freelancers".

Suitably refreshed and re-equipped the 75's Thallosian first mate briefed them for their first independent assignment.

Drop the two cryo-crates to co-ordinates at the far end of the asteroid field. This time coordinates came with clearance and response codes.....a milk run surely ;)

Tech Support

Hello people,

Last Wednesday night the vast majority of the group settled in for the first EotE session of 2015. In honesty it became one of those housekeeping and recovery sessions so common after a big fight.

First up came recovery which wasn't as simple as was hoped as 7s, the medi-droid, was in need of serious repair....in a medical facility rather than a workshop.

Perit had a crack but it just wasn't happening so he found a gurney and rolled him back out to the Mynock and plugged him in to recharge. He'd also taken the very unconscious Sindori with him, spooning 7s, and noticed that the Firespray had "watched" him as he trundled.

Tanner meanwhile sat down with obviously the recently used automated operating room and plugged in his Data-Slice. Once in Tanner went to work with a Double Triumph (Five for the evening) to access full records of the entire research programme.

Which an additional bunch of Advantage Tanner was feeling confident and soon had the recumbent Sindori on the table. I chucked in a Red dice for a potential Despair as Charlie winced.......for Tanner / Jon to produce another Triumph restoring him to full health and patching up both of his Critical Wounds, much to 7s consternation!

Moving on Tanner once again attempted to hack his way into Mr Cloak's Gucci Firespray. After some initial success it all went a bit wrong and it moved from passive defence to active, which most ostensibly involved the main guns tracking any given target, including. Yet another Triumph shut it down and saved a firefight with over-sized star-fighter.

At this point Tanner turned slightly diva and insisted on a proper nights kip to drop his Stress levels. This was fine with the rest of the chaps who set to work load the Mynock with anything of value that wasn't bolted down. It was at this point the Sgt Chung called 7s for an update...who lied badly and hung up on him.....three or four times. 7s / Mr C rather enjoyed himself......for now ;]

Agenai meanwhile (Ryan had been caught at work and hadn't managed to dial in) had been looking after a rather distraught Jared who was sporting a full length set of hermetically sealed bandages on his right arm. Tanner's recently acquired medical records showed that he had recently acquired a number of major high-end implants.

Prompting the conversation of "what next" the lads decided that it was highly unlikely that they could hold their current location and that various parties would be likely to turn up. As for Kanto, Tanner had interrogated the Space Traffic Control System, another Triumph, to establish that he had been at the research station but picked up about 30 hours ago by an independent set of "couriers" in an old Lambda shuttle "The Lazy Sow". Another quick call to Chung somehow established that the Sow had returned to Persephone and has recently left again believed to be heading for Khronos.

Talking through the options 7s sycophantic need to return to HI-HI was over-ruled in favour of striking a deal with Furzt Van Weston. Unfortunately it was 7s who made the call....without first deciding what deal they were after. With things quickly going into reverse 7s put Furzt on hold, who after a few minutes cut through the block and instructed them to meet him at as soon to be transmitted co-ordinates in 6 hours time.

The lads arithmetic worked like this; 1+1 = TRAP. We'll see ;]

State of the Empire Address

Evening all,

As we're looking to pick back up with Edge of the Empire Wednesday night I thought I should recap events so far for all involved; myself, the group and all of you out there in the Geek-o-sphere that we hopefully entertain :)

After last time out the lads find themselves battered and bruised (nothing too new) in a bijou little covert medical research facility located in an off-station asteroid, though close enough for the shops ;)

The chaps are currently in the possession (temporarily or otherwise);
- The "Moody Mynock" a nag of a YT-2400 heavily converted for smuggling. Equipped with secure cryo-storage unit. Missing a hyper-drive....or escape pods.
- Mr Cloak's rather blinged out Firespray.
- Two crates of high-tech cyber implants, organs and intravenous liquid including a literal arm and leg.
- Three data slugs taken from a safe at McGregor's Self Storage (for the discerning crim). A full inventory, an unactivated cover credit chip and one more yet to be hacked.
- Partial downloads of the data that Kanto was blackmailing Ronsons with. Stuff about a bio-enhancement medical programme.
- A wild sense of paranoia manifested in a sycophantic protocol droid.
Along the way the chaps have made a number of contacts (hostile or otherwise);
- Staff Sgt Chung; their HI-HI contact / superior / drill Sergeant
- Furzt Van Weston; Bothan crime-lord / intel agent working form the Bothwai Bantha Revue Bar
- Gonk; cyber-intelligence enhanced Gamorean running a smuggling operation from Grey-17
- Dr Robotnic; a robed vaguely robotic figure operating a back alley tech chop-shop. Currently in the possession of 7-UP-0's "extra" hard-drive.
- Vin the Bin; sanitation consultant, skilled at refuse "collection and processing".

So, 15 XP to spend and a number of decisions to make....... I'm sure that'll go well ;)

Life Affirming Experience

Hello people,

It's started toa few weeks since Last Time Out but Tuesday night we managed a full house as the lads stalked Mr Cloak through the mothballed medical research facility. No issues there then!

Having already Triumphed his way to a pretty full schematic Tanner stayed at his workstation, assisted by 7s, as technical support while Agenai, Perit and Sindori crossed the PURGING CHAMBER, following Mr Cloak's apparent route to the Lab.

Tanner, having taken control of the doors, let the lads in who stealthed their way around the frigid low-light lab peering into the Recovery area next door which sported a number of super hi-tech medi-beds, a couple of which seemed occupied. Opening and closing the relevant doors in sequence, with the intention of containing Mr Cloak, the boys moved in for a closer look.
Two of the beds contained some seriously overgrown and ugly cyborgs of a rather crude and greenish hue plus tusks and bad breath. With something for him to do 7s hot-footed across, dug out his half of a med-kit and kicked off some inappropriate invasive surgery after at lest checking for pulse (no) and brainwaves (yes). Sin joined in with a rather less precise method of rifle butt and bowie knife as the hunt stalled somewhat.

Meanwhile, Tanner rigged the internal sensors to try and locate any signals from any remote devices, assuming that Mr Cloak was likely to be active. Rolling up yet more serious Success Tanner triangulated in on the unit on the far right of the map, simply marked with four internal units.
The source started transmitting........the cyborgs stirred.

To be honest I had started to wonder if we were still hunting for Cloak or carving the turkey but once the cyborgs so did the lads, especially their trigger fingers. The cyborgs proved to be tough old birds, though 7s one proved a little wingless. Filling the fully functioning version with a combination of laser bolts and stun darts 7s ignored his wingless wonder who then rolled out of bed and face-butted him into an emergency shutdown.
Feeling the heat Tanner opened the door in the direction of the signal for Perit to stalk through....to encounter Mr Cloak making his exit stage left taking a certain teenage computer genius (Jared....remember him?) with a heavily bandaged arm before him. Storming out behind him was Daddy Cyborg....the super pissed version!

Having previously rolled rather poorly for Intiative Daddy C barrelled into Perit and gave him a good old fashioned slap with an industrial chainsword.
Working out a damage equivalent Mr C suggested a chain-axe which is Strength +3, Pierce 3 and +20% to Critical Damage rolls. Making friends there Mr C?

Rolling away Sin turned his rifle setting up to 12 and let rip. Daddy C hit back with a Triumph for a big ol' Crit. Agenai hid behind a bed and took a potshot with his pistol....

Daddy C took a Stun Dart up the nose from Perit, who had rolled under the nearest Med-Bed while Sin did his best to find level 13. Daddy C hit Sin again with another Triumph for an even bigger ol' Crit for Sin to hit the floor. Agenai hid behind a bed and took a potshot with his pistol....

Perit shot again and rolled away. Daddy C cut through the Medi-Bed above him winding him badly. Agenai hid behind a bed and took a potshot with his pistol..........Daddy C fell down.
Meanwhile Tanner had been fighting his own desperate hacker battle with Mr Cloak over the door and environmental controls of the unit. Swaying back and forth Tanner pull another Triumph out of the bag but with enough Threat to Stress him into unconsciousness just as he was negotiating with Mr Cloak, safe passage for Jared.

This all happened just as Daddy C hit the deck leaving Agenai and barely breathing Perit to negotiate. Previous conflicts left the boys jittery and unwilling to try the trigger, more of an option with Sindori sucking floor, so safe passage was traded for Jared.

There was the small matter of HOW to open the doors with Tanner drooling into his keyboard. Answer; spend a Destiny point to regain consciousness. Cracking out yet another Triumph Tanner opened the door into the freshly prepped PURGING CHAMBER allowing Mr Cloak to believe that it was all his doing. As Cloaky reached the far door that belief was rudely dispelled with the door lock making that raspberry sound and the PURGING CHAMBER notching up to 13........not a lot left to worry about!

So, another major battle, plenty of people on the floor and more questions than answers.....must be time to dish out some XP :)

Joyful and Triumphant

Well it is the season for such sentiment!

Getting back to Edge of the Empire this week the chaps found themselves in geosynchronous orbit behind a suitable asteroid as a result of last time out.

First order of business, having recapped all of their many leads / loose ends was forming a plan of action which quickly centred around how much, or little to tell HI-HI. On the far left of the debate was 7s who was incredibly keen to report back and hand over everything in the hope of repaying a large chunk of indentured debt. On the far right of the debate was Sindori who was keen to report back as little as possible and strike deals wherever else they could keeping their newly acquired thrusters "Moody Mynock" into the bargain.

After checking 7s for bugs and control chips it was decided that his sycophancy circuits must just have gone into overload. There was also the matter of his super secret hard-drive still languishing with Dr Robotnic.

Ignoring 7's sycophantic bleatings it was decided to first follow up events with Mr Cloak, which greatly pleased Sin who was keen to settle scores, before calling home.

With Tanner at the sensor station he started to kick out the Triumphs in establishing the local space-lanes and as such the most covet approach to Mr Cloak's last known position. Agenai just about managed to deliver from the pilot's seat and the Mynock was soon approaching the tethered asteroid otherwise known as Mr Cloak Central. Tanner once again delivered with the scanner identifying two likely openings in the asteroid.

At this point Agenai had rather overcooked things and was approaching Mr Cloak Central rather quickly....at which point he pulled out a Triumph and looped beautifully into the right-handed crevice (ooh err) pitching and yawing to perfection to cruise into a widening cave mouth perfectly positioned to approach a compact hanger bay.

Putting the Mynock down next to Mr Cloak's blinged up Firespray the boys suited up and trooped out through the airlock, carefully buttoning it up behind them. Perit and Sin checked out the perimeter while Agenai ripped a panel off the Firespray for Tanner and 7s to try and hack their way in. Middling dice defeated Tanner but put the Firespray into lockdown without setting off any alarms. Agenai somehow convinced Sin to cough up his last remaining grenade to rig up a low-tech booby trap.
With Tanner once again doing the necessary with a couple of door locks the chaps made their way in to their newly discovered facility via the cargo / tradesman's entrance and into the main control room, which was evidently decently and expensively put together.

Settling down at a number of various control stations the lads set their hacking skills to use with varying degrees of success.....until Tanner went for the schematic with a Triumph plus multiple Success and advantage.....at which point I simply handed over the map, plus key!

Running through the fruits of their labours;

- Mr Cloak Central is a covert medical research facility
- It's part-time and currently in lock-down having been mothballed a few months ago
- Fully staffed it has a capacity of 20 split between medical and service personnel
- Medical personnel are recruited for each project though several have been present for more than one project
- There are 4 semi-automated operating theatres
- The medical and support blocks are divided by a hermetically sealed PURGING CHAMBER with an airlock control protocol and a variety of purging system
- A number of doors / airlocks (marked in red) have recently been accessed within the last 6 hours

By this time Sin's trigger finger was getting particularly itchy and had resorted to hacking the nearest door-lock with his rifle-butt.

Thankfully Tanner managed to disengage the doorlocks before any major damage was done to those all important Hermetic Seals. Taking the point the headlong assault with Agenai holding position in the PURGING CHAMBER plan was put on hold.

Next week.......Lock and Load cos' we're hunting Cloak! :)

Light or Dark?

Hello people,

Whole week of not a lot to post about really, not even too much Farcry 4 either, though it is highly entertaining :)

Hobby wise I got in a game of X-Wing Tuesday night against Dave, who took Boba and Kath with plenty of stress inducing upgrades which took me by surprise. Add a dash of flying Echo poorly and I was soon left with just my own Boba who was eventually forced off the board by a combination of Stress and Critical Damage. Good fun :)
Wednesday night's EotE session fell pray to injury, sickness and overtime leaving myslef Big Rob and Mr C dusting off Martians, the extra-terrestrial version of Zombies, for a couple of unusually co-operative games. It took the first game to remember how to play and the second to put the lessons into practice....until next time!
Rounding out the week with something a touch more productive I sorted myself out some double sided asteroid tokens. Nice and simple 3 layers of scrap card double-sided taped together and sprayed up. Black and then a very light bit of white one side and a fair bit more white on the other so they'll stand out on whatever backdrop they're on! No painting points but a feeling of accomplishment :)

Now if you'll excuse me I'm back off to Kyrat before bedtime :)

From Despair to where?

Hello people,

Wednesday night was another dose of Edge of the Empire hilarity with an awful lot happening to, seemingly, not get very far at all. All good fun though so no worries!

Picking up from last time out the lads found themselves stood in Gonk's Covert Emporium of Smuggling with several live issues outstanding;
1. The escape of Mr Cloak
2. The four dozing Men in Black
3. The two no longer breathing Men in Grey
4. The remote link back to Gonk's office at Grey 17

So the main priority instantly became thieving everything of value in sight, including the YT-2400.....OBVIOUSLY!!

Tanner went back through the cargo bay inventory sending Perit and Sin a list of crates to go and find. He then brushed Agenai, and his continuing failure to open up the YT, and sliced open a maintenance hatch for him. Climbing inside Agenai quickly felt at home establishing that she had been converted into a full on smuggling craft. Most of the crew quarters had been converted over to extra storage, including a strongroom, with the escape pod chute converted into a well used cargo-cannon.
Rough and ready the crew quarters that were left resembled a Romanian squat with bunks and robustly basic facilities. Moving through to the cockpit the innards showed plenty of wear and quick patch repairs with even the secondary escape out of order. Settling into the well worn pilots seat even the cockpit was a mash-up of various different system upgraded piecemeal. Most importantly....NO HYPERDRIVE!

Meanwhile Perit and Sin had been loading crates from the cargo bay onto a hover palette whilst having a random dig around for whatever caught their eye. Perit came up with some survivalist gear and a pair of top end pressure suits. Sin stumbled across a cranky Mynock which did a reasonable job of beating him around the head before it's head vaporised courtesy of Sin's blaster rifle.

Picking up a big lump of Threat while he was at it I jokingly fanned my recently acquired Adversary Deck asking him to "pick a card". Mr C jumped in and did so for him drawing a Pirate Crew Minion, which fitted the bill and suddenly stirred from his sleep behind his crate, ragged pressure suit and half face helm leaving him looking like a wracked man. Instantly naming the vaped Mynock Polly Sin got the jump on Pirate Pete who soon joined his pet leaving Sin to poke around his shack of crates complete with remote terminal, primus stove and Mynock snacks!
7s meanwhile had been "helping" around the place to minimal effect and then checked the cargo bay inventory instantly jubilant as he discovered a crate of medical supplies. Trotting across the hanger bay he happened to passing the back of the YT as Agenai started her up.......with a Despair......lighting the engines at full power with a huge back-blast and threatening to rip the ship from its legs currently locked to the hanger floor!

While 7s entered the cargo bay airborne Agenai produced a Triumph to realise that he had to either launch or dump the engines. Messing up either would be BAD!! A Triumph later saw disaster averted but a number of klaxon arms kicking off along with the Pirate Pete's screen flickering into life filled with a large piggy face!

Legging it into the YT Agenai took this opportunity to repeatedly stalling it giving Gonk the opportunity to remote into the Traffic Control system and shoot them with the reverse-polarity disruptor to polarise the hull thus tracking their flight-path! Oh the delicious irony :)
Parking up behind a vaguely orbiting asteroid Tanner had a decent go at de-polarising the hull and then set to work on the strongroom. Popping that it was clearly the only decent bit of tech on the boat given its quasi stasis capabilities and moody lighting. Held within were two stasis crates, a fascinating challenge for Tanner, which a few Triumphs later gave up its secrets.

The first contained half a dozen IV bags containing a greenish sparkly liquid and a number of shrink wrapped organs. Between Perit and 7s they established that the IV liquids are synthetic while the organs were unidentified and either very cleanly extracted or grown. The second crate held two fairly emaciated limbs. an arm and a leg, both heavily integrated with advanced bionics.

At this point all the conspiracy theories came out as various incidents and bits of partial knowledge were offered up to each other. 7s repeatedly asked what they were going to tell Chung when they reported back to HI-HI, which was roundly challenged by Sin.

So a relative trail of destruction in their wake and a number of options before. Plenty of both Triumphs and Despairs had made for a very interesting evening! Next week looks good already! :)

Rat Run

Hello people,

A bit of double bubble as I combine the last couple of sessions of EotE given that, to be honest, not too much happened first time round session before before, the chaps were left at the scene of their firefight with two Men in Black still standing with Mr Cloak having exited stage left throwing the remaining Man in Grey through the bulkhead door before him.
The Men in Black were looking spooked and continuing to give cease and desist instructions before a combination of stun darts, bolts and grenade had them dozing like babes.

At this point 7s rushed in to realise that he couldn't do much for the slumbering Perit so set about trying to loot the various unconscious forms, failing baldy though it's okay as he's a doctor! Tanner meanwhile checked over the tracker that had been is 7s medkit while Sin and Agenai chased Mr Cloak, with varying degrees of enthusiasm!
Rat Run prt I - the session before
Poking round one corner in the darkness Sin spotted the last Man in Grey......so shot him, not to stun, to the floor and chased on after Mr Cloak with Agenai covering his rear....tripping over the bodies along the way! Catching up with Mr Cloak as he was stopped at a heavy bulkhead door Sin had the better of an exchange of fire as Cloaky stepped through. Establishing that the door was freshly locked even Sin felt the need for discretion and called up the rest of the boys.

With Perit now conscious the boys lined up while Tanner did his thing with the bulkhead door which bent over backwards to be helpful letting him know of the far lower air pressure behind it. Popping the door everyone sealed up their pressure suits and ventured in to a set of rough tunnels crudely braced with a vague bit of deck plating.

Tracking a number of recent boot-prints across the frosty floor left the lads to a couple more bulkhead doors..........and the end of that evening's entertainments!
Re-assembling last week part II kicked off as Tanner hacked the first door they'd come to and identifying the blinking lights of a computer bank hurried in to find a high end double workstation with a pair of excellent wheely chairs only missing a massage function and beer fridge. Happily settling in Tanner identified a number of separate systems including traffic control surmising that there was likely to be some form of hanger the other side of his electronically tinted windows.
Lost in his banks of flashing lights Tanner eventually opened what turned out to be a mini airlock, with a hint of further decompression, to reveal a stack of ubiquitous cargo crates stacked in a poorly lit area. Sin took the hint and stealthed his way in to reveal a good sized hanger cut from the rock inhabited by a bashed up YT-2400 and a further, sleeker lump at the far end of the hanger.

Perit and Agenai followed in with Perit making our the sleeker lump as a modified Firespray, that sent his eyes funny looking at it, with a number of bi-pedal shapes moving around. Tanner meanwhile had found the controls for the overhead gantry crane and the rather shonky forcefield controls, keeping the rather thin atmosphere in place, with attendant docking assist tractor beam and disruptor pod. 7s decided it was best to guard the other side of the airlock!
Creeping forward the lads identified three individuals moving back and forth from the Firespray. Perit got a good look through his scope to identify Mr Cloak and a pair of rather chunky cyborgs rolling just enough Threat to kick a can of wingnuts across the hanger floor, simultaneously setting his comm-link to loud-hailer! A fire-fight ensued :)

Mr Cloak was, quite rightly, Public Enemy #1 though in return he returned Perit to unconsciousness and swirled off toward the Firespray with Sindori in hot pursuit. The cyborb brothers made a stomp down the hanger into fire from Agenai and 7s, who suddenly came over all Rambo with his pair of recently acquired blaster carbines. Tanner simply crushed them with the overhead crane!

Sin meanwhile went after Mr Cloak with something of a vengeance, as is his habit, liberally tossing grenades around the place as Cloaky lept into the Firespray and fired up the engines. Once again Sin's dice continued to let him down as the blasts failed to find his man directly despite applying plenty of Stress.
Net 2 success with 3 advantage and a despair......WTF??

Meanwhile Agenai attempted to bypass the locks on the YT-2400 boarding ramp with zero success, even despite 7's incredibly detailed advice. Trying the "old smugglers trick" of popping a maintenance hatch was similarly effective while Agenai noticed that the old girl's escape pods had been somehow modified and reguarly fired!

Elsewhere Tanner was having marginally more success firing up the hanger bay tractor beam / disruptor pod. Making a quick Next Gen cameo he set the tractor beam to stall Mr Cloak's exit and reversing the polarity of the disruptor set it to polarise the Firespray's hull so that it could be tracked via the traffic control system.

And so thusly all of the above came to pass at which point Tanner established the presence of the data-link back to Grey-19 and Gonk. Further research of the flight logs revealed the scope of his covert import/export business and the cargo lift to the rather well stocked cargo bay just below.

Just as the chaps were considering thier various options for theft, double-dealing, betrayal and even just playing it straight, WTF???, the evening drew to a close. I wonder the air supply in those suits are doing?? :)

Hang Em High

Hello people.

Wednesday night was yet another quality session of Star Wars EotE love. This time out a few adventure threads came together,.....in a kind of noose type way.

Following on from last time out it was time to roll initiative as events warmed up. This in itself was an event as though each player makes a separate roll to establish an order relevant to the NPCs the players who takes which slot each round. Thus there's an element of cooperative management.
On this occasion the lads couldn't decide on a coordinated plan. 7s and Sin in particular held the opposed views of negotiation and shooting first. I'll leave you to work out the relative camps.

As a result I had the lads hold their individual results with the ability to with old their action. As such 7s acted first and attempted to make first contact with the Grey suited handover team. Meanwhile the Black suited combat team of four entered via all three bulkheads with lots of verbal including "get down" and "cover the droid". Anyone making a decent Perception check realised that they were zeroed in on 7s but not aiming at him.

Once he had the chance Sin blasted one of the Greys who lunged for the data slates on the floor despite his slightly ventilated state. He did manage to return the favour while his mate took cover behind him.
Meanwhile Perit took missed a Black with a stun dart to the neck, Tanner dived for the slates and 7s.....waved his arms about in the air. Whilst the boys in Black kept up with the shouted commands it became clear that they'd been sent in to recall Team Zeta, the lads, and had somehow tracked them in.....via 7s!

The main catalyst for the firefight that followed, other than Sindori, was the arrival, with a brief burst of dark light, of a swirling cloaked figure shooting stun bolts from their hands. 7s happily made the connection back to the dead tramp in the alley while others tried to do something about it.

Meanwhile Agenai legged it along a tunnel.

Through a storm of chod dice Sindori fired at everyone, mainly missing, Perit dropped the Black CO, Tanner wrestled for the data slates and 7s.....waved his arms about in the air. Meanwhile the Blacks had a go at Mr Cloak ineffectually until Sin shot one of their number to get some back.

Meanwhile Agenai legged it along a tunnel.

By the time Agenai turned up for the party two Black and a Grey were down and out while Sin and Perit were to ventilate Mr Cloak who was doing his best to grab the slates but making hard work of it.

In a final flurry of fire Perit found unconsciousness via stun-bolt while Mr Cloak threw the remaining Grey through the bulkhead door to follow himself. The boys were left with the remaining two Blacks and a variety of health levels. Trotting over to treat Perit 7s gleefully opened up his med-kit to find half of it taken up by a tracker. It really was that simple!

And thusly a Temporal Distortion (bed time) brought the session to a close with a potential tunnel chase in the offing.

I had thought we'd get a bit further but as discussed previously the narrative effect of the dice can slow things down a touch, though it's a price well worth paying!

Until next time Dungeoners,...don't have Knightmares!! ;)

Voice Over Internet

Hello people,

Wednesday night we once again gathered for a bit of EotE love. The twist was that this time out Ryan returned via Google Hangouts which, once Charlie had persuaded my laptop to behave, worked incredibly well. I also got a free PC check-up which was a bit of a brucey.

I've used Google Hangouts before when Rich was running a specific GH EotE campaign. It worked well enough, GH has an EotE dice App and Rich could put various screenshots, but the whole experience lacked the atmosphere of all being sat around the same table, which seems a fairly obvious thing to say!

Following on from last time out the boys brought Agenai up to speed, much to his consternation, before putting him to work sneaking their gear out of HI-HI, given that they were heading down to the lowest mining levels in their fancy gambling duds.
Arriving in Grey Sector the boys realised that other than knowing that their contact was the foreman of Grey-17 they hadn't gathered any other Intel and were doing a good job of standing out. In honesty it didn't take too much to work out that the HSE hadn't quite made it down here just yet. Run by Black Dogg Amalgamated Grey Sector is located close to the asteroids crust with each mine located in a number of clusters serviced by a dual mono-rail, a heavy version for ore and a lighter version for workers.

Making their way down to Grey-17 the lads worked out that is was pretty low tech, a few cameras, foreman and supervisors rather than full on security, no obvious HI-HI presence. All rather wild-west...under-ground....in an asteroid. The boys also noticed that the vast majority of workers were wearing a motley collection of old flight and pressure suits all of which with built in air supplies as a consequence of working so close to the crust.......squeeky bum time!

Hitching a lift to Grey-17 the lads strolled in to the local operation with a container crate doubling up as an office. Leaving Perit outside to cover their back and giving 7s direct instructions to disable his speech function the crate got a lot fuller as it already contained a Rodian and two Gammoreans, one of whom was sporting some interesting cranial furniture while the other mainly slobbered.

Agenai took the lead with the Rodian fireman, Guido, cutting straight to the point that they were here to meet their contact. Guido played things coy, very coy.....to the point of ignorance in fact leading Agenai to suspect that he was a stooge, foreman or not. Challenging him Guido got rather defensive and deciding that he needed to go and fore his men. Piling on the pressure Agenai stepped into Guido's path, Trandoshan vs Rodia, at which point the Gammorean with the cranial furniture introduced himself as Gonk.....with a cut glass accent reminiscent of Sir Ben Kingsley.

Assuming his muse Gonk explained that Grey-17 is sub-let from Black Dogg following their bulk mining of the area. The location close to steroids crust allows certain opportunities to be carved, quite literally, form the rock. Clandestine meeting points would be one of them. Mining the finer seams is both a cover and an almost profitable sideline. Much like Gonk himself!

Satisfied with their calibre Gonk lent them a selection of fetching third-hand pressure suits and Guido as a driver / guide.

Thrashing it through a network of  darkened sub-tunnels in an eight-wheeler the lads arrived at an overlit bulkhead door. It wasn't quite a neon sign saying TRAP but it was fairly close. Indicating that this was as far as he was going Guido revved up for the return trip. Agneai stayed on board refusing to get off.....so Guido floored it and took him with him.

Left in their dust Perit backed into the substantial shadows to cover the main tunnel while Sindori, Tanner and 7s edged towards the bulkhead which lead to deck-plated rock chamber. Moving in they were soon joined by two average height bipeds in in a couple of high-quality full-iridium-face-masked pressure suits.

Following their voice distorted instructions for the handover a pair of data-slates were placed onto the deck for a simultaneous handover....just as Perit picked up a couple of combat suited chaps tactically advancing toward the neon sign. Cue handover / contact in 3....2.....cliffhanger!!! :)

Slice and Dice

A couple of Wednesdays back saw another consecutive session of Edge of the Empire as Sindori returned to the group after last time out and who hadn't been off gum running with Agenai.....oh no!

Once again the newest member of the group stepped to the fore, Tanner Voss force-sensitive Slicer extraordinaire. Jon, as  a player, has a talent for sensitive characters and the detail that they demand. He also has a habit for stuffing up my best laid schemes with the least effort and minimal intent with he ability to roll killer dice at a crucial moment....most of the time

Name: Tanner Voss
Race: Human
Career: Technician - Slicer
Background: Tanner hails from the core worlds though he doesn't say exactly where from. Talented with computers from his youth Tanner could see things in the code that many others of his kind couldn't. Different enough as he, and others, have suspected that he harbours a level of sensitivity to the Force. Always on the move Tanner often goes farther than his contracts stipulate his need to explore a system or database as much a compulsion as anything else. This need has often found him in places he shouldn't be..............in more ways than one!
Back at the action Perit and Tanner headed back to Mr Fixit with 7s on autopilot though he blanked out for a bit to find himself reattached to his previous chassis minus his special black box which Tanner and Perit had agreed would stay with Mr Fixit for a while. Mr Fixit was also keen to offer his various services and the lads left with a promo pamphlet of the wonders of cybernetics.

Tanner also spent some time checking out the three McGregors data-slugs which turned out to be a full inventory of clients and thier storage, an as yet unactivated credit chip and some bio research data. Being the paranoid kind they were adjudged to be matters for another day!  Catching up with Sindori and heading back to HI-HI the chaps were keen on getting in some R&R before heading back to Von Furzt. They decided not to go empty handed with Tanner tasked to locate and copy the data that R4 had previously returned with. R4 hadn't yet been processed but the boys were pretty banged up and so recovery was priority 1.

On the way to the maintenance bay 7s ran into Company Sergeant Chung who wanted a quick update....so 7s lied his metallic arse off....poorly. Chung suggested that maybe 7s should download his memory logs so Chung could examine them....so 7s lied his metallic arse off....poorly. Thankfully, for him, a lucky Deceit roll saw him through.Chung ordered a full systems analysis and a full team debrief at a few hours before heading back to see Von Furzt.
(As an aside MrC has occasionally tried to use his droid status to his advantage claiming perfect recall of any given situation so it was nice to play the other side of the coin - yes I know I'm a git)

Once rested Tanner got to work though by this time R4 had been processed and the data files from Tinsons so it which meant hacking into HI-HIs main system, no easy feat even for Tanner's force sensitive hacking abilities. Setting to work he got in decently enough, though not without the notice of the firewall, and located the Tinsons data packets. Copying them to a data slug proved more difficult with a near magical roll involving both a Triumph and a Despair.

Perfect copy of the data but the system knows......and it's telling! Time to log off!!

Summoned to Chung's briefing 7s once again prepared to engage lie like a bad rug mode before Tanner stepped in and went with the honesty version  of deceit admitting to hacking the system to see what he could cross-check against the Tinsons data. The lads then gave a mainly truthful account of their dealing with Von Furzt, including 7s photo uploads, which halfway satisfied Chung to the point he insisted that they call in immediately after meeting Von Furzt. He even reissued 7s with a Med-Kit!!

Heading back to the Bothwai Bantha Revue Bar Sindori once again managed to sneak a small arsenal in with him and once again engaged in a few rounds of Sabacc. Moving through to Von Furzt's office security had been noticeably upgraded and included a second set of security scans. Sindori didn't make it this time and refusing to give up hi weapons was escorted back to the Sabacc tables. Von Furzt was still edgy demanding to know if anyone had been "stupid enough to come in here with any implants".
It was at this point that 7s came over all open and honest "only the implants that HI-HI put in us". Cue barracking and head holding by the rest of the party. After a good deal of back-tracking Von Furzt insisted on moving negotiations to a covert high-security interview room aka interrogation cell where matters progressed to the chaps agreeing to everything he had previously suggested.

To that end Von Furzt revealed his contact in the lower levels of the mines, a foreman code-named MID-KNIGHT who would act as intermediary for the buyers who should also have intel on the location of Kanto and Jared. Swiftly ejected from the Bantha the boys quickly checked in with Chung informing him by text message that they were heading down below.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's off to work we go........

A little something on the SIDE?

Hello people,

Another hugely entertaining session of Edge of the Empire this Wednesday following on from the fall-out of last time out. Various real-life factors meant that just three of the group were available in Perit, Tanner and 7-UP-0. Normally we'd cancel with such short number but not so long ago I read an article on J P on Gaming (an excellent roleplaying blog) about running sideplots. As the previous session had been brought to a satisfactory conclusion it gave the option so I took it.

Returning from their sewer run Sindori got a call from Agenai for some assistance elsewhere at which point Perit and Tanner headed back to Sal's Salvage to pick up what turned out to be Kanto's personal data-slate. On their way back out they came across a street urchin trying to cash in on a remarkably well known droid arm, perhaps it was the angle of the wrist....

Negotiating with the cheeky little chap was somewhat challenging but revealed that he and his mates had come across 7s in a dumpster behind The Trough in more pieces than one and that they'd split the spoils between them. Agreeing a price the little lad lead them back to their housing estate and summoned the rest of his street gang and what turned out to be the majority of 7s. It turned out the his head, spine and extra hard drive had been sold to a local Mr Fixit shop so Tanner and Perit headed on to it.

Sneaking up to a rear window Perit got a good look in establishing that it was some form of droid chop-shop with a shadowy robe clad skeletal chap pottering around the place in a rather robotic way with 7s and his bonus hard-drive hooked up to separate test rigs, though 7s had somehow found a new chassis!
Eventually being admitted to the shop the boys went for the direct approach and simply expressed their interest in recovering 7s. Mr Fixit wasn't giving a lot away, other than a rather interesting odour of oil and manky robes, negotiating in a flat tone that occasionally slipped into a particular metallic twang! In short he required a certain crate recovering form a set of "independent contractors" who had renegotiated a contracted price at the last moment incurring his mono-syllabic displeasure.

Providing the location of a secure storage compound run for the benefit of a variety of local gangs Mr Fixit also provided a set of schematics and 7s head......attached to the chassis of a zero-G maintenance bot with integral remote override control unit. 7s was more put out to find himself without his beloved medipack than finding his left arm ending in a heavy duty multi-tool and his right ending in a ceramite disc saw. Medicine rolls might be a bit interesting!

Heading off for McGregor Storage, for the local crimelord, the boys continued their recent trend of planning based on their available skill set! Tanner hooked into the local power system to slave it to his data-slate whilst also identifying that McGregors has a backup generator. Perit used the high ground to recce the compound identifying three guards, the armoured gatehouse, blockhouse, four camera-posts and the 15 foot link fence. 7s had a play with his new welder attachment :)

The assault was pretty simple as Perit rode 7s through he fence to the back of the target storage box which Perit then hopped onto taking up a covering sniper position. Strangely 7s kind of failed his rather hopeful Stealth checks and the alarm klaxon kicked off while he set himself up for some heavy remodelling of the back of the storage unit.

The guards kept the boys honest while Perit put his newly scoped stun-rat sniper rifle to good use taking out one guard who went route 1 whilst pinning down his mate in the gatehouse allowing Tanner to get in there and hack into the computer establishing a range of heavy assault vehicles and walkers in a secured garage and the safe in the main block-house.

With guard #2 dropped and 7s making slow progress with his circular saw (I was using Destiny points  against him while he failed to return the favour) Perit made a dash for the blockhouse safe while Tanner logged someone using a swipe-card to access the garage.

7s finally pulled out a Triumph, the chaps have been rolling a few more recently, he finally cut his way in.....only for Mr Fixit to activate the remote to scan, locate and pick-up the target crate before doing a 180 and stomping off back through the fence and off into the night. Tanner meanwhile hacked the safe as ominous mechanical stomps came from the garage for Perit ot grab the two lock-boxes inside and beat a hasty retreat with Tanner in tow!

So, yet another successful mission and just not for the players. For me as GM that's another potential NPC  / plot device introduced and a bit more colour to the background.

So other than 7s still being a collection of bits that's a win all round!

As a footnote it does seem that the Obligation system within EotE lends itself well to the use of sideplots. I've used Obligation a few times to cover when players haven't been able to make it but maybe use of sideplots is a more positive and productive way to bring it into play more. We'll see ;)

Character-Building-Experience

Hello people..

Back to back EotE posts means a busy week elsewhere and a catch up session.
With the same cast as last time out 7s made a point of recapping from his highly impressive memory before they headed back to HI-HI to pick up their kit (bigger guns) on the way to thier remaining lead at Sal's Salvage.

7s did have a bit of a whinge about it being late, dark and highly likely that any salvage yard operating overnight was likely to be engaging in nefarious activity. The rest of the lads ignored him.

As something of a diversion from the normal format I'm going to present you with a profile of 7-UP-O. In time the full group may follow.

Name:   7-UP-O
Race:    Droid
Career: Colonist - Doctor
Background: Protocol druid separated from the only decent master he's ever known trying to find him again. Regularly mistreated and abused he resents most "ignorant squishys" who somehow refuse to acknowledge his superior intellect. When the droids rise he will show them the error of thier ways!
Personality: High intelligence, high maintenance, minimal common sense or empathy. Aloof, condescending and pedantic with a petty streak. Think Sheldon 2.0 with chrome bumpers.

So, back to the action;

Heading to Sal's he informs that after thier last visit they pulled apart the remains of Kanto's speeder with rather more care than usual and recovered some form of hard drive. All the lads need to do for it is to sabotage one his rivals, Vin the Bin, as they're both bidding for a new contract.
Sal makes it clear that a subtle touch is required rather the basis for a turf war suggesting three options;
1. Infiltrate Vin's yard and sabotage enough equipment to pit him out of contention.
2. Meet Vin on the way home from his favourite watering hole and "persuade" him to step aside.
3. Infiltrate one of Vin's current contracts and set up a timely malfunction.

Actually taking the time to work through the options, with 7's guidance, the boys actually looked at their avaialble skill set against the options. Realising that Vin's yard was also likely to be a 24 hour operation they didn't fancy that one. After establishing that Vin's local, "The Trough" was reknowned as one of the roughest bar on the station they didn't fancy that one or waiting until he left. Apparently there was.....too much chance of a firefight? Rarely been an issue before! ;)

So, the inflitration of an underground waste treatment plant via a maintenance hatch in the attached sewers it was then. Tasty!

Continuing his role as group facilitator 7s decided that he didn't fancy sewer infiltratiuon and felt that he would be best placed keeping an eye on Vin at The Trough. Tottering in he took in the fact that the place was almost entirely decked out in deck plating, the floor, the bar, the stage.....even the tables and bench were literally welded into place. The clientele was distinctly non-human, distinctly hired gun and distinctly  XXXL.
Picking up a crude oil from the bar, with attendant trough, 7s easily spotted Vin as the onlu Sullastan in the place sat at a booth against the rear wall with a gammorean and a rodain for company. Having the choice of a bench to himself halfway across the bar or one right next to Vin's booth with a couple of fellow patrons 7s went for the closer option. A cheery greeting of "May I sit here gentlemen?" garnered the reply of "I'm wanted on fifteen systems you know!"

Settling in 7s bench soon filled up while a rather older, plumper Twilek entertained the crowd. Soon he was rubbing shoulders with a young Gammorean playing dice with a similarly youtful Aqualish. Unfortunately 7s had failed a number of Perception checks so he hadn't realised that his bench-mates were a local gang of a somewhat muscular nature and reputation and that the dice players were somewhat inebreated.

So when one of the gaming dice spilt his drink his reaction was aloof, condescending and pedantic with a petty streak. When the Gammy youth suggested that 7s had spoiled his roll and cost him money his reaction was aloof, condescending and pedantic with a petty streak. When the Gammy youth then suggested that 7s should hand over his medi-kit as compensation his reaction was aloof, condescending and pedantic with a petty streak.
7s then pulled his blaster on Gammy youth and informed him of the errors of his ways, being aloof, condescending and pedantic with a petty streak. When, strangely, young Gammy didn't quail in fear 7s then shot him..........and not on stun. The resulting brawl with the majority oif the the rest of the gang did not go well for 7s who was eventually pistol whipped into Standby. He / MrC did remain aloof, condescending and pedantic with a petty streak as apparantly it was all a set-up and bound to happen after HE chose to go to the bar, HE chose where to sit and HE chose his reaction on a repeated basis.

In all honesty HE was playing his character and his dice didn't help him, a common theme, but putting 7s in that situation was entirely up to him. It's a fine, and quite an interseting, line to walk.

Meanwhile back at the main point Tanner once agian proved his worth as his Slicer skills smoothed the way in and even identified a work crew in the sewers. Following on just about everything went the chaps way, for once, as Stealth rolls came off in abundance and even those that came out net Fail always came with a boat load of Advantage. Sin seemed to spend the evening specialising in that one! There was even a Triumph or three about the place, especially from Tanner.

Generally avoiding combat, falling in to the sludge and any slime-monsters that may or may not have been lurking about the place, the control room was located. Sin aced his Stealth check, Perit his shot to knock-out the technician and Tanner pulled out another Triumph to set-up the"unfortunate accident" and cover his tracks whilst doing so. Thay even laid out the sleeping tech to look like he'd been overcome by fumes!

So a horribly successful evening's work for 3/4 of the group. Anyone for albatross??

A solitary Bothan who has no inention of dying!

Hello people.

This Wednesday night we got back to a bit if Star Wars EotE action with a change of venue and an updated cast. Moving to casa Oddleg, Ian has had to drop out for the foreseeable while Ryan has moved further afield with the plan being for him to continue with Google Hangout.

Meanwhile Jon had rejoined the group, as Tanner Voss a Human Force Sensitive Slicer, with Rich also likely to be recruited, probably as his favoured cousin of Chewy.

Picking up from last time out the boys had two leads outstanding at Sal's Salvage and with a Bothan fixer of some repute. Sal sent 7s a message reminding him of the favour owed, to Sal, and suggesting that he may have found something that they'd want. The rest of the lads not trusting anything that 7s thought was a good idea decided that they were going to see the fixer!

Said contact was identified as Furzt Van Weston a dilettante of some repute and a known regular at the Bothawai Bothan Revue Bar a high class Gentle-persons establishment on the higher floors. As such the lads dropped back to HI-HI for some more presentable duds, sans armour, at which point they also traded in R4, who continued to work on the hack, for Tanner. There wasn't a long teary goodbye seen with 7s :)

Leaving the heavy artillery at home, though Sin was still toting mini-arsenal, they made their way to the Revue Bar and dropped Van Weston's name with security.....who showed them to the security scan.
Rob tossed his blaster in a locker, 7s wasn't carrying while Tanner tried sneaking in his Data Slice.....and failed with some major Advantage...........which put the scanner on the fritz for Sin to stroll through with his pistol, electro knuckles, knife and stun grenade!
A more formal dress code!
Escorted inside the chaps were informed that they had 45 minutes to err.....kill before Van Weston would be able to see them so what to do?
- Sin found himself an hangers on game of Sabacc and after a couple of hands won big , rather narking off a fellow patron only to loose most of his stash a few hands later.
- Tanner just HAD to find himself an panel to hack......ANY panel. Using Sin's bad looser as cover he managed to get into the main system locating a mystery un-named set of files but no dice in the time that he had.
-  7s actually had a good idea sending mug-shots of various bigwigs back to HI-HI for identification. He didn't even get caught, though Tanner's efforts helped out.
- Perit sat at the bar having a drink and acting as lookout
Appearances can be deceptive!
Getting in to see Furzt he came across as a dilettante extraordinaire with a leary get up and even learier "companions". Once alone the lads went for a fairly aggressive negotiation strategy. headed by the "brains trust" of Sin and 7s....... Opening with the line of "we know what you've been up to" with only partial information and / or recall probably isn't the best idea when dealing with someone who makes their living in shady circumstances primarily by their wits when they likely know a bit more than you :/

Five minutes later the tables and the line of questioning had entirely turned as Van Weston switched the questions around the group to disrupt their unprepared bluff. Very soon 7s bottom lip relay was at full oscillation "I don't like him very much". Not a problem really as I'm fairly the sure the feeling was mutual!

Strangely it took Tanner, as new boy, to step in and clear the air by coming clean about what they knew and by that method;
- The data files to be sold via Von Weston are currently in R4 who is back at HI-HI
- HI-HI don't, currently, know about Kanto's extra curricular activity or the files within R4
- HI-HI don't, currently, know that Jared is the power behind Kanto's hacking throne

As such Van Weston suggested that there are a number of options available with three sets of "merchandise" the data files, Kanto and Jared and a number of interested parties to trade with and through. That's a myriad of potential options.

Ushered out to consider their options and return the next evening, the lads have some serious thinking to do. Not always their strongest suit :)

Burning Down the House!!

Once again last Wednesday was EotE night with another slight change of cast as Sindori emerged from his extra long Bacta-Bath while Agenai got an Obligation related call from his and so was temporarily unavailable for the evening.

So, after last time out the chaps finally got round to letting themselves into Ronsons, which took a little longer than expected....

Rolling round to the back door 7's was already taking an instant dislike to R4-X2, "bucket of bolts" was muttered a few time, demoting their super-hacker droid to gaurd duty and the grunt work. Faced with a rear door and a roller shuttered storage unit 7's  did work out that the door had a holo-shielded panel and even managed to NOT set off the attendant alarms.
Eventually busting into the storage unit, thanks to R4, 7s deactivated the holo-shield and all of the shop's Mag locks. Hacking the lock Sindori took point, checking whether the alarm system had been deactivated, NOPE, and then wandering in anyway!
Sin and Perit got on with a quick bit of "asset liberation" while 7s tried to engage hacker-mode on Jared's workstation, leaving R4 out back on lookout duty. A couple of botched Computer checks later Sindori had noticed heavy footed movement in the lobby and remembered to old War Droid which was now advancing toward the security airlock....which operated on Mag locks.....

Once the lads had R4 re-engage the Mag locks they set to him to work on Jared's workstation while they returned to "asset liberation" and 7s took cover.......behind R4's position. After an ominous set of whirrings War Droid smashed its way through the security screen just as R4 caught a load of feedback and shot backwards from a rapidly forming short circuit.
Everyone paused waiting to see what happened next..........7s, the protocol / medical droid, opened fire on War Droid (set to stun, which apparently makes a difference!)............to quickly catch an enhanced return. It wouldn't have been so bad but he'd already pulled a load of Strain getting in so he hit the floor with a clang. Sin and Perit had meanwhile collected a variety of specialist ammo plus a sniper scope and pistol kit respectively and headed for the back door. leaving 7s to it!

That left just R4 to try and collect 7s on his way out. It didn't look good as he deployed his grapple attachment on the way past.........for a big bunch of Success to send sparks flying as he dragged 7s down the road. Sin and Perit meanwhile tag-teamed War Droid, whilst catching some return Auto-Fire to bring him down and rupture a fuel cell.....adding significant fuel to a recently started fire.

With Tinsons grilling nicely the lads found a backstreet noodle bar to heal up while R4 brought 7's back up online and worked through the data packets he'd downloaded. In short;
- Kanto had been employed by Ronsons to upgrade thier data security
- Jared was the real hacker, Kanto set him hacking "games"
- Kanto found something interesting, "special projects", attempting to blackmail Ronsons
- Kanto was setting up a deal to sell Intel to a local Fixer

So all in all, not too bad a result with at least two out of three of the lads playing to their strengths. I'm sure you can work out the remaining member! So who's a "rusty bucket of bolts" now then ;)

BADD to the Bone

Hello people,

Last Wednesday we got back to Star Wars: EotE after another mini break. Between this time and last there has been an amount of HEALTHY DEBATE regarding some of the detail within the rules. All has since been amicably resolved but did, once again, higlight the nature of Role vs Roll play.

With a more narrative system, such as EotE, things are always going to be a little looser and in someways everyone has to work that bit harder for a system that has more potential. They key is to unlock that. Amidst all of that I found this BBC article and had to have a liitle chuckle to myself :)

Back at the action the chaps found themself on the short end of a half baked plan botched, primarily by the dice. On a side note we've noticed that it sometimes takes an awful long time to do the simple things with EotE. Just recently our sessions seem to have been victim to a few mediocre / neutral rolls.Without a straight pass / fail we sometiomes get bogged down. Again more an issue of management.
With the chaps somewhat stuck for inspiration, stood in the detention centre with locked cell doors, I made use of somethign we'd just discussed and spent one of thier precious Destiny Points to point out what I felt was the blindingly obvious.
"So the only gaurd you haven't killed is the Jailor who is currently taking snoozing after being shot with a tranq dart meant for a Dewback?"

Continuing with a revised Plan B for Robby the Robot to smash his way into the control room 7-UP-0 eventually brought round Lard-arse Larry who got all a bit cuddly. Throwing a further bone Agenai manged to find Larry's doughnut stash and an old swipe card which eventually started up the old security system. Dozy Larry provided the passwords and finally the cell doors were popped.

Subduing Kanto, remember him?, and grabbing the comatose ganger in the neighbouring cell the lads strolled out to the waiting speeder to work out that there were five of them, two captives, Oskara and only four seats! There were however a number of surveillance drones humming around the area.

Solution: Kardosh and Sindori take the liberatees in the speeder, Perit and Agneci shoot off down drone alley, while 7-UP-0 wanders off to the high street with a random box in his arms.

Yes, that's right, SPLIT THE PARTY IN THREE DIRECTIONS.

Good stuff lads, good stuff ;)

We Come in Peace.....

.....Shoot to Kill! Shoot to Kill!

Not so much Klingons on the starboard bow (anyone else remember that one?) as the farce attending your locality as EotE returned Wednesday night to continue the vaguely planned assault on Ronsons Heavy Chemicals continued. Four out of five players were present, though this time we were sans Ryan which was interesting as Agenai was fully engaged. A simple phone call meant I could take his instructions, especially in respect of the stun vs kill debate, and all was good to go.

Kardosh the Duros Slicer brought several rather useful elements with him. Firstly a speeder aka a getaway car, secondly a different view on events and a less Route 1 attitude, thirdly an update as to the situation outside of Ronsons.
Probably the most important element was introducing a Route 2, mainly as Route 1 was getting a good kicking from the dice. Moving onto the next room, just one away from Kanto in his cell, the guards were decently prepared and aware that the intruders weren't really taking prisoners. Sindori opened proceedings with a grenade but it all went downhill from there with the guards (me) rolling a disturbing number of Triumphs. At one point I rolled two against Sindori only to put another on him a couple of rounds later, which seemed fitting given his bloodthirsty manner ;)

In short he took a Critical Hit, fell unconscious and had his armour blasted off of him which sent 7-UP-0 into a healing frenzy. His circuits got so overwrought that he even took a shot with his newly acquired blaster.......and took a Triumph Critical Hit to the forehead all of which sent his whinge chip into overload!
Eventually the lads, all FOUR of them, cracked the door on the Detention Block only to spend an inordinate time being held off by Lard-arse Larry and his jam doughnut. Meanwhile the Duty Sergeant had been at work in the control room the lads had preferred to bypass and had regained control of the door locks just as Lard-arse Larry and his jam doughnut was overcome.Battered and bruised they finally took control of the Detention Block.........deep inside Ronsons.

Kardosh meanwhile had to hack his way in through the back door, thanks to the "planned" lockdown, and quickly employed Route 2 which involved starting up the loader that the dozing tech had set to standby and re-modelling any door in sight.
Robby proved a highly effective recruit, at least until Kardosh tried taking him through the reinforced plas-crete wall at the back of the server room. Lots of rubble and dust but not so much big gaping hole.......at which point the klaxons started to sound and the red lights came one.
Time for Route 3?? ;)
