Big Boys Don't Cry # 2

Hello people,

A little later than billed, as I went and saw Deadpool Sunday night, but the TAGs are done :) In a lot of ways their size actually made them easier paints, given their strong, simple lines. There was plenty of wash work and getting the white clean was as long a job as you'd expect but all to the good.

I'm claiming a modest 3 Painting Points per TAG and 2 for the Iguana pilot. Hopefully the greens look as good to you as they do to me. As previously mentioned I'm now just 5 figures away from a fully painted Nomad force........scary!

I also tried the Open Camera app on my pad which is far better than the pad itself but still not great. I'll get some scenery out to do a group shot once everything is done so I'll likely reshoot these again at the same time.

Brace yourself ;)

Big Boys Don't Cry # 1

Hello people,

Once again I have snuck in some brush-time over the weekend, all of it TAG related. Rob's Gorgos, and as such his army, is buttoned up as whilst my Iguana and Geckos currently hover at the 90% stage.

It's judge edge highlighting a touch of glazing here and there along with a bit of detailing......which is the BIG thing. The relative size of these guys alone makes them natural centrepieces to the wider force and I want to make the most of that. I've learnt with the rest of the army that a simple smooth scheme tends to work best, too busy looks awful on this stuff, it's a crucial balancing act.

I'm not the best with flat detail but I've got some sheets of Tau symbols / text and Dreadball numbers decals that will do the job nicely. The Tau stuff will be kept to a minimum, probably just text and maybe the odd bonding knife, but the numbering is a definite. I think it suits them well as military exo-suits.

With the Iguana I'm likely to re-paint the helmets, TAG and pilot, to match in with the tail which is currently a mid green that won't be staying either. From black / dark grey I'd like to bring in some green somehow to reflect the lizard angle but that's something to play with, possibly a stripe of dark green down each side of the tail and across the top of the helmet front to back.
A couple of Google image searches has brought up some inspiration but if you've got any to spare please feel free to let me know. Sunday evening will be the great unveil....

Until then :)

Tree huggers with GUNS!!

Hello people,

I finally got the photo set-up out and shot Rob's Tohaa. I obviously forgot to redo my recently finished Nomads but getting the tree huggers done has kicked me into gear on that front.

With a couple of troopers and a bunch of zonds left I'm actually closing in on that rarest of TOYS achievements, a fully painted project!! TWO if I count the Tohaa. I do still need to paint up the Gorgie TAG which I'll double up with my Iguana......and Geckos ;)

Happy Days!

End of the Year show

Hello people,

Just rounding out the year with my last bits of brush-craft. As some as you might remember my goal was to finish off Rob's Tohaa by the time I went back to work on Monday.

These chaps were finished on the last day of 2015;
The squiggle handlers haven't seen any table time yet but the viral sniper has been terrorising the club for a while now, especially me it would seem.

Another 12 Painting Points to round a fairly sparse year which, as I've previously discussed, has been as a result of the shift in my gaming. Without Infinity it would have been far less.

These chaps were finished today;
18 Painting Points is pretty good for Day 1 of 2016. It also earns me a pair of Geckos for my Nomads which, as a seemless segway, is my main project for the forseeable. Once everything is done I'll switch over to my Shasvassti.......at some point. I'm sure that they'll be some X-Wing along the way.

More shortly I'll actually set up the camera and catch up with myself....honest ;)

Merry New Year :)

Tohaa

Hello again and welcome to Rob's Tohaa as previously promised / threatened  (delete as appropriate)

I have to admit that I'm not so sure who is who other than a decending order of elite status. Command, rankers, auxiliaries and support from what I remember.

Tohaa come across to me as vaguely mystical bio-tech. Not sure if they're vat grown and / or hug trees but they have a number of viral weapons with the elites sporting multiple wound and symbiant armour. The first time I used my Intruder sniper with a good combination of Camo and Armour Rob bypassed all that with a shot of plague, much to my chagrin. On the flip side they really don't like flamethrowers while I never leave home without a few ;)

Pretty much honours even so far!
