Not a lot of posts recently, which I'm sure you've lamented at great length but this has been for too main reasons.
Firstly my laptop's power lead has died. Maplins want £65 for a new one, thanks for that but I think I'll pass. The little repair place can do £35 but not for a couple of weeks. Must be cheaper online, if only I could access it!!
I've also been to Brighton for the weekend and spotted this! The shop to the right was full of spangly accessories and as such bought me some drooling time.
MG42. I tried to explain the significance but quickly gave up recognising that initial error in record time and thankfully didn't try comparing my fascination to that of the afore mentioned shop next door. Learning!
I was intrigued by the stamping near the stock and wondered if it was original not expecting anyone to ruin it's market value intentionally. I had thought that it might have been made by a satellite state, maybe the Czechs, but a colleague of mine who's just been there on a family holiday says not and that bottom line looks Russian to just about everyone.
Possibly a captured piece, there must have been plenty, that ended up in a museum in and eventually onto a gun shop in Brighton? Operation Sealion the long route??
Answers on a comment!
TOYS. I've been in a steady relationship with "the hobby" for many years now. This blog is an attempt to rediscover MY hobby and provide motivation to paint MY toys and play MY games. The topics may wander to rugby, cricket and the x-box but feel free to skip those bit if you wish........ either of you :)

Bingo, Bango, Bongo
Mornin' all!
A quick update before I disappear to the land of no I-Phone connectivity for another couple of days. As I'm sure everyone already new I haven't achieved as much as I might have liked to but I have achieved SOMETHING.
Specifically I've done an amount of work for the next stage of the Star Wars RPG, the star system and detailing a new "hub" location.
Plenty more to do but I've got a dozen good adventure hooks surfacing and as long as I stay one session ahead I'll be fine :)
With a bit of unexpected brushtime yesterday I also finished off the Ghouls and Ghasts to add and extra 10 PPs to the months tally.
Actually painted the skintones properly, or as well as I can (not my strongest point), rather than trying another drybrushed short-cut.
Next week I'll see if I can't work up a few St Peytersburg scenarios. Wish me luck!

A Man's World?
I'm sat at home with the Ick at the moment. Nothing too terrible but just enough to feel a bit BLEURGH. Some might call it man-flu but that's not a theory I subscribe to!
Tuesday was a club night and a last run through with 5150 before the campaign starts. Just as well really as I needed the practice and we'd all managed a slightly different take on the level that we were aiming at.
Answer: squad level. So my 21 strong force was a bit unbalanced and unwieldy to track traits and limb specific wounds!
As such I've spent the morning re-working my force. Wanting to use my Rogue Troopers the Xeog just about fit the bill as genetically built light infantry.
They come in two skin-tones, green and light blue, with the latter often going rogue...RESULT! The only fly is that they're all female, or at least males have never been reported. I'll assume that no-one's ever survived to make such a report.
Not using any armour I've had to go super-elite to keep thier numbers down to 12. They fight in groups of three so this is how i'll deploy them with all female leadership.
One really nice thing about 5150 is that each race is given a flavour through a subtle variation in thier own specific reaction table. The Xeog are classic light troop, fleet of foot and hand thier clone status makes pretty hardy but staying power in a brawl isn't thier thing. Hug the cover boys and girls!
Moving on I'm going to try out a couple of ideas to get the Zombies on thier way. I currently feel quite in tune with them!!

Reach for the Sky
After all my mock whinging it was a particuarly lovely weekend spent in West Sussex, just outside of Chichester if you must know.We over-ate and visited Arundel Castle (hugely excellent), Petworth House and West Wittering beach.
At Petworth House we joined the National Trust and I was pleased that the welcome pack DIDN'T include a pipe and slippers, though I wouldn't have been surprised if it did!
Another highlight of the weekend was visiting the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum and thier English Electric Lightning.
Built during the cold war as an all-out interceptor to counter the hordes of Soviet "Bear" bombers it has been described as two rockets attatched to a fuel tank and a seat!
You may have already detected my boyish glee and I was, once again, quickly reduced to a gibbering childlike hyperactive state. As previously stated she's a very lucky girl!
As foretold no more hobby activity has taken place. Infact i've begun sifting and packing of all my painting stuff for THE MOVE on Saturday.
I have however bought an old extendable dining table and six chairs via E-Bay for the gaming shed for £22. We just need to go and pick it up on Sunday.
Meanwhile it will be the final roleplay session at the flat on Thursday and should bethe final Star Wars session before swapping back to Jon's D&D campaign. Re-arranged for Aaron he will be providing the biscuits.
New beginnings and all that :)

Shoot the BIG ones
Target prioritisation, it's a big deal to gamers of almost every ilk.
So far this month I haven't picked up a brush in anger once and the DTs are beginning to hit. There are many reasons for this and its also a white lie but i've got the DTs and they need a fixin'. I didn't even get in any Games Club this week.
Why the missus couldn't have moved her ACTUAL birthday I have no idea. And tonight I have to go away with her for the weekend, AGAIN, somewhere NICE to spend QUALITY time together. Not a genestealer in sight. Sniff.....
I'll stop showing off now but this does happen to every gamer at some point.
We're actually moving in together next week and there's a large shed at the bottom of the garden carpeted with light and power.
Its called The Games Room.
Actually, my better half has been keen for me to have it for toys and i'm very pleased. VERY :)
As a result, i've touched up my Hordes: Everblight force (the white lie) and stuck them on E-Bay. Sell well my beauties and transform into Copplestone's resin lab scenery!!
So, whilst LIFE has struck i'm in relative danger of a non-scoring month PP wise. I have sprayed up the contents of Space-Hulk and if I should get so desperate I can paint the CAT token.
All will depend on how quickly I can get set-up and how much of the Bank Holiday weekend I can shut myself away for.
STAY ON TARGET!! :)
